Emily Wood of Durham, Ontario, Passes Away After Brave Battle with Childhood Brain Cancer
Emily Wood, a courageous 17-year-old from Durham, Ontario, passed away on Thursday, October 10, at approximately 5 p.m. at Chapman’s House, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Emily had been fighting childhood brain cancer, and despite her strength and determination, she succumbed to the disease after a long battle.
Emily was hospitalized from August 18th to September 19th due to an infection from her shunt. During her stay, her family received the devastating news that her cancer had progressed, making her ineligible for the Sick Kids trial.
Known for her incredible resilience, Emily faced every challenge with strength and grace, leaving a lasting impact on those around her. Her spirit, kindness, and infectious laughter touched the hearts of everyone she encountered, and she will be deeply missed.
To honor her memory, Emily’s family is inviting the community to join them in a tribute event on Saturday, October 19, starting at 2 p.m. Christina Wood, Emily’s mother, shared, “This event will be an incredible tribute to our amazing baby. Please join us for a day filled with fun and laughter, celebrating the things she loved most.”
Emily’s legacy as a fighter and a beacon of kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
