While delivering a sermon at Perfecting Church in Toledo, Bishop Winans suddenly fell onto the pulpit. The church’s emergency response team promptly intervened, and EMS was called to the scene. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel diagnosed him with dehydration. After a few hours of rest and treatment, he was discharged.
On Friday, October 18, 2024, Bishop Winans reassured his congregation and supporters with a video message regarding his recovery. Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and concern, he stated, “Thank you all for your support following the unexpected episode. The doctor believes I suffered from dehydration. My heart and lungs are good. I want you to know that I AM FINE, I FEEL GREAT, AND I AM EXCITED.”

Previously married to gospel singer Viviane “Vickie” Winans, he shares two sons, Marvin Jr. (known as Coconut) and Josiah Winans. His stepson, Mario “Skeeter” Winans, is also a respected musician and producer. With a family deeply rooted in music and ministry, Marvin Jr. has followed in his father’s footsteps as a pastor and musician.
In April 2022, Bishop Winans began a new chapter in his personal life by marrying Dr. Deneen Carter.
