Jacob Baldwin Death & Obituary: A heartbroken mother from Midlothian, Virginia, is pleading for the public’s assistance after her son was tragically killed in a violent assault over the weekend. Renee Baldwin took to Facebook to share the devastating news about her son, Jacob Baldwin, who died following an attack on West Marshall Street in Midlothian.

“My son Jacob Baldwin passed away yesterday due to a fatal brain injury sustained during an assault in downtown Richmond around 2:00 AM early Saturday morning. To raise awareness and garner media attention to help catch his assailant, we will hold a vigil for him tomorrow at 11 AM near the site of the attack: the 2800 block of West Marshall St on the north side of the street. We will also have a separate memorial service for Jacob, with details to be shared soon,” wrote the Virginia Commonwealth University graduate.

According to law enforcement, the 26-year-old was struck in the head by an unidentified individual. Officers responded to the 2800 block of West Marshall Street shortly before 2:15 AM on Saturday, October 12, after receiving a report of an aggravated assault.

Upon arrival, they found Jacob Baldwin, 26, of Midlothian, unconscious and unresponsive at the intersection of West Marshall and North Sheppard streets with a serious head injury. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and sadly succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. The medical examiner is currently determining the cause and manner of death. Detectives have reported that Baldwin was struck over the head by an unknown assailant.

The Baldwin family is urging anyone with information about the events that occurred Friday night and early Saturday morning in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood to come forward.
