Javier Morales Jr. Death & Obituary: In loving memory of production assistant for popular podcast “I’ve Had It” who was killed in Oklahoma City shooting

Javier Morales Jr., a dedicated production assistant for the popular podcast “I’ve Had It,” was tragically shot and killed this past weekend in Oklahoma City.

A Bright Light in the Community

Morales, affectionately known as “Javi,” was remembered by colleagues and friends as a diligent worker who brought joy to everyone around him. According to an Instagram post from the Nichols Hills-based podcast, Javi was always punctual and played an integral role in the lives of the hosts.

Jennifer Welch, co-host of “I’ve Had It,” expressed her grief, stating, “Javi is one of those individuals who exudes brightness. He’s just a bright light to be around, and it’s just horrible to be here without him.”

As a son, brother, and grandchild, Javi epitomized a strong work ethic and was closely bonded with Welch and the podcast team.

Devastating Loss

Welch reflected on the shocking loss, saying, “To meet someone on Friday, spend the entire day working with them, bid them farewell, and wish them a happy weekend—and then learn on Sunday that they were killed on Saturday night. Reconciling that is difficult. Your brain has a hard time processing it.”

Javi’s contributions to the podcast went beyond the final product aired. “He never worried about the little things. He wasn’t a petty individual. He never had jealousy, envy, or any of those trivial feelings that we sometimes experience,” Welch added. “Javi used to take my son to basketball practice and watch his games before he was old enough to drive. He truly belonged to our family.”

Fighting Gun Violence

The tragedy of Morales’ death hits particularly hard as his father, Javier Morales Sr., works with the charity organization LiveFree OKC, which aims to combat gun violence in Oklahoma City.

The family is now mourning the loss of their son to the same violence they strive to eliminate. Jabee Williams of LiveFree OKC stated, “Our job right now is just to rally around him and be there for him and his family as much as we can and continue to love on him. His main goal has been to effectively assist those enmeshed in this type of violence and to truly see a change in our community, and that is what he has been doing.”

The community continues to remember Javi for his vibrant spirit and lasting impact, as they unite against the ongoing issue of gun violence.
