Katie Sonnenberg Death & Obituary: Katie Sonnenberg of Kitchener, Ontario, has tragically passed away due to complications from a Postpartum Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome surgery following childbirth. She was married to Tyler Sonnenberg, who stood by her side through every challenge. Katie died on Wednesday, October 16th, just over a week after welcoming her beautiful second child. Despite the best efforts of the neurology team, the surgery could not save her life. Medical professionals have concluded that her untimely death was a result of postpartum cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome.
Earlier in October, Katie and Tyler welcomed their daughter, Georgia Katherine, to their family. Georgia joins her older brother, Henry, and their beloved dog, Hunter, making their family of four complete.
A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by Meagan Needles to support the family during this difficult time. Unfortunately, the joy of Georgia’s birth was short-lived; just three days later, on Friday, October 11th, Katie was hospitalized due to severe headaches that resulted in a brain bleed and related edema. Following preliminary scans, she was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital for emergency brain surgery, aimed at preserving her health.
Now, Tyler, Henry, and Georgia must learn to navigate life without their cherished wife and mother. To help Tyler focus on caring for their two children, the community is rallying to provide as much support as possible.
Throughout her brief but impactful life, Katie was a friend, cheerleader, coworker, and caretaker to many. In this time of need, it is important that we come together to support her family.
With financial assistance, Tyler can provide for Henry and Georgia’s essential needs, including night nurses, childcare, formula, transportation, and more. Additionally, any funds raised will contribute to the children’s future education savings.
