Former Miss Wisconsin USA Melissa Young Passes Away After Battle with Terminal Illness

Miss Wisconsin USA Pageant
The Miss Wisconsin USA competition selects the representative for the state of Wisconsin to compete in the Miss USA pageant. Despite over 60 years of competition, Wisconsin has seen limited success in the Miss USA system, with only eight placements in its history and no wins.
Melissa Young, crowned Miss Congeniality in 2005, remains one of the notable figures in Wisconsin’s pageant history. Wisconsin’s most recent notable placement came in 2023 when Alexis Maria Loomans earned second runner-up, marking the state’s best finish since Mary Cook achieved the same in 1974.
This past June, Tori Trittin of Madison was crowned Miss Wisconsin USA 2024 at the VAHS Performing Arts Centre in Verona. Trittin will go on to represent Wisconsin at the upcoming Miss USA 2024 pageant, continuing the legacy of strong contenders from the state.
